CHRISTINA ZHOU 

A highly active and sought after freelance violinist and teacher in Singapore, Christina Zhou is currently the Principal and Director of Coronation Music School. She believes that learning and appreciating music has the power to shape one's cognitive abilities and character that will benefit anyone at any stage in life.

 

CHUA TUNG KHNG

While Tung Khng started relatively late on his music journey at the age of 15, it did not deter him from attaining his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music. Tung Khng firmly believes music has the ability to develop a person’s character and philosophy. He is currently a teacher and accompanist at Coronation Music School.

History of Music

    ( Topics covering 10th - early 18th Centuries)

    ( Topics covering mid 18th- 20th Centuries)

 

Gerald Lim 

The workshop is conducted by Teacher Gerald, who specializes in Early Music and has majored in harpsichord performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He combines a performing and teaching schedule and has performed in various countries around the world, such as Belgium, The Netherlands and the UK.

Musical Theatre Happy Hour

  • Suitable for all Instruments and people of all ages

  • Conducted by our voice teacher, Mr Daniel Fong

Coronation Music School’s Musical Theatre Happy Hour is a fun and informative workshop where participants will be able to:

1) Learn about the history of famous musicals

2) Get to know some famous musical theatre singers and composers

3) Learn about the often funny and often ridiculous story-lines in some familiar and unfamiliar Musicals

4) Sing along to some very famous tunes and learn new ones along the way

Daniel Fong (Baritone) is an active Singer and Voice Teacher. A scholarship Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, Daniel has received both his Master’s (Distinction) and Bachelor’s degrees (1st class Honours) from the Academy. Daniel had also gone on to further graduate with the Post-Graduate Professional Diploma in Song and Lieder (Distinction). Daniel is also a certified Singing Teacher under the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM). Daniel was a Voice Lecturer at King's College London (KCL) and is currently adjunct Lecturer at NUSYong Siew Toh Conservatory (YSTCM) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). 
As an active performer, Daniel has sung in notable places such as Colston Hall (Bristol), The Austrian Cultural Forum (London), The Holywell Music Room (Oxford), King’s Place (London), The Art’s House Singapore, the Esplanade Concert hall and the Esplanade Recital Studio. Daniel is also the winner of the Marjorie Thomas Song competition at the Royal Academy of Music (2014), runnerup at the Elena Gerhardt Lieder Prize (2014), highly commended at the prestigious Mozart Singing Competition (2014) and highly commended in Major Van Someren-Godfrey English Song Prize.

A Journey Through the History of music

This workshop aims to bring about awareness of the origins of Western music, the prominent composers, as well as the instruments which were used during these composers’ lifetime.

Students will get acquainted with the main epochs of music – Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and 20th Century – by
learning how to identify the main characteristics of music in the respective eras.

Gerald Lim currently divides his time between performing and teaching. He has been a piano teacher at Coronation Music School for three years, and his varied teaching career included stints at Secondary and Junior College institutions. Gerald’s diverse performing career has taken him to various parts of the world, including the UK, The Netherlands and Belgium. In Singapore, he has collaborated with The Philharmonic Orchestra and ADDO Chamber Orchestra to name a few. Gerald is a first-class honours graduate of the University of Birmingham. He later completed his master’s with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was awarded the academic prize at Birmingham, as well as winning the early music prizes at both institutions. He is a keyboard specialist and plays the harpsichord and fortepiano in addition to the modern piano. 

 

Sight-singing with confidence

Coronation Music School’s Sight-Singing with Confidence Workshop aims to equip students with the necessary tools needed for assured and accurate sight-singing.

Through physical movement, games, fun unique interactive activities and group-evaluations, students will be able to acquire a stable foundation in both intonation and rhythm and will be able to Sight-Sing with better precision and fluency.

 The workshop is based on the practical musicianship guidelines of the ABRSM, and will greatly prepare students for the ABRSM examinations’ Sight-Singing component.

Coronation Music School's The Art of Rhythm and Time Workshop 2017 aims to imbue musicians young and old with complete understanding and mastery of timekeeping.


 

Wei Lung studied at the Lasalle College of Music and went on to perform with a plethora of acts such as singer-songwriter Tim Koh, rock bands Continuum, Full Circle, and jazz fusion TO Ensemble, performing at Singapore Night Festival, Singapore Noise Festival, Journey of the Olympic Flame 2010, Mosaic Music Festival and Titian Budaya Festivals. Currently, he is sessioning for guitarist Simon Yong and keyboardist Joanna Lim on their upcoming progressive albums. He also took part in drumming competitions and was awarded Semifinalist at Drum Challenge Asia 2007, 3rd place at Drum Challenge Asia 2008, and winner of Zildjian's Gavin Groove Contest 2015. Being an avid educator, he has 11 years of teaching experience in institutions such as Yamaha Schools, SG Drum Academy, and MOE Schools,  as well as having a Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/c/WeiLungWong with an international audience of over 1600 subscribers and 70,000 views. Wei Lung also proudly endorses TRX Cymbals (USA) and SAKAE Drums (Japan).
